The School of Cybernetics celebrates the announcement of Professor Katherine Daniell who has been appointed School Director.
Professor Katherine Daniell will be commencing a two-year term in the position from 25 March 2024.
Katherine has been a pivotal member of the cybernetics community at ANU since the early days of the 3A Institute, before taking a key role in the establishment of the School of Cybernetics.
Katherine is a highly accomplished researcher whose work focusses on collaborative approaches to policy, action and education for sustainable development.
She has received many awards and honours for her work, including being awarded the highly prestigious insignia of Knight in the French Ordre National du Mérite.
Katherine will bring to the role a wealth of leadership experience from her previous leadership positions within the College, University and across the global research and innovation community.
Professor Daniell will step into the role being handed over from School of Cybernetics Founder and inaugural Director, Distinguished Professor Genevieve Bell who was appointed as ANU Vice Chancellor in January 2024.
We welcome Katherine into this critically important role as the School delivers on its mission to help Australia and the world effectively navigate major societal transformations in safe, sustainable and responsible ways.
