Strategic Design and Innovation Consultant. Transdisciplinary Practitioner. Learning Experience Designer.#
Nadereh is a strategic design and innovation consultant working across public service, banking, and retail sectors in New Zealand and the Middle East, with a strong focus on ICT-enabled environments. She applies human-centred, systems-oriented design to complex challenges, using technology as an enabler rather than an end in itself. A notable achievement is leading a customer insight–driven service model redesign at Carrefour UAE, which won Gold for Best Innovation at the 2024 Gulf CX and Innovation Awards.
Over the past decade, she has led large-scale research and design initiatives for organisations including Wellington City Council, Stats NZ, the New Zealand Ministry of Justice, Kāinga Ora, HSBC Innovation Hub, Citibank, and Carrefour UAE. Her work combines ethnographic research, participatory design, and foresight to inform strategy, policy, and service innovation, supporting senior leadership decision-making across housing, finance, education, and emerging digital markets.
She has led and mentored multidisciplinary teams and is active in innovation ecosystems, including founding The School of Design Thinking Ltd., participating in New Zealand’s first government accelerator, and mentoring at hackathons and startup events. Alongside her practice, she designs and delivers education in design thinking, service design, and innovation, integrating systems thinking, foresight, and cognitive science to develop transdisciplinary learning experiences. She is interested in fostering environments where innovation emerges at the intersection of disciplines.
Nadereh is a PhD candidate at the Australian National University’s School of Cybernetics. She holds a master’s in strategic design, a Graduate Certificate in Science and Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics. Her work explores how cybernetics and transdisciplinary thinking can enable new forms of learning and innovation.
