Diplomat. Lawyer. Wine-lover.#

For Peter, 3Ai’s groundbreaking approach to grappling with this rapidly changing world was a natural segue after extensive experience as a diplomat and lawyer working to further Australia’s national interests abroad and to help make, shape and deliver policy at home.

A Chevening Scholar, educated across four continents, Peter’s combination of knowledge, skills, experience and insights has provided an excellent proving ground for tackling the complexities, and competing interests, involved in fostering globally-framed approaches to the beneficial development and use of advanced AI.

Peter has held a range of positions at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade throughout his career. Most recently prior to joining the pioneering program at 3Ai he was Deputy Head of Mission in the Australian Embassy Harare, Zimbabwe.

Early into the Masters program, Peter introduced the 3Ai team and fellow first cohort to a fabulous new view of a cyber-physical system, by using the DFAT x-ray machine on Kayla the AI doll. After the Masters, Peter returned to DFACT and has very recently retired from government service after a long and varied career.
