Three. Words. Here.#

Teff is a storyteller who is interested in speculative futures, with a bias towards afrofuturist narratives. Before coming to 3AI, he was at the leading international broadcaster in the U.S., the Voice of America, where he served as a multimedia producer, managing editor, and digital media strategist, covering over 14 African language markets. During this period, Teff co-created and produced Beyond the Unicorn, a documentary focusing on founders of African descent in Silicon Valley; and Adrift, a special report on the arduous journey of African migrants trying to reach Europe.

More recently, Teffera also worked for the U.S. Agency for Global Media’s Office of Policy and Research, where he assessed digital media landscapes across the world, with a focus on social network and internet circumvention trends. Inspired by this research, he came to 3AI where he has been interrogating the role of search and recommendation algorithms, speculative fiction’s potential in helping us design cyber-physical systems, and the need for digital governance and equity mechanisms.
