The ANU School of Cybernetics has established a Cybernetic Imagination Residency program that hosts artists, thinkers, tinkerers and creative/critical doers.

The Cybernetic Imagination Residency program is intended as a catalyst for creating new forms of critical and creative questioning, and to encourage new approaches to imagining and shaping the future through and with technology. Our residents are with the School for one year to inspire, challenge, and investigate. Building on their exceptional practices and expertise, the residents will engage within and beyond the School community to create captivating cybernetic artefacts (physical and digital) as well as design and deliver a cybernetic learning experience inspired by their work.

Cybernetic Imagination Residents#

Our inaugural cohort builds on relationships the School has already with internationally recognised practitioners who have taught into our Masters programs and offered masterclasses and seminars. Our residents are deliberately chosen to express a range of mediums, career trajectories, interests and knowledges. They are supported to create works and ideas that reinvigorate ideas about cybernetics.

The Cybernetic Imagination Residents in 2022-2023 are:

You are on Aboriginal land.

The Australian National University acknowledges, celebrates and pays our respects to the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people of the Canberra region and to all First Nations Australians on whose traditional lands we meet and work, and whose cultures are among the oldest continuing cultures in human history.
